The Pacific Area Travel Association (PATA) was organized in U.S.A. in 1952, as a non-profit corporation to develop, promote, and facilitate travel to and within the Pacific area. Its 17th Annual Conference was held in Taipei on February 12-16, 1968. To celebrate this memorial occasion, a set of commemorative postage stamps was issued, with the scenes of Taroko Gorge and Chungshan Building as the designs.
